Daniel Edozie the Nigerian Destroyer New Adventure

London —–Daniel Edozie just completed his first year of playing professional basketball for the Bristol Flyers (BBL England) and led the league in rebounding. A couple of weeks ago he resigned with the Bristol Flyers for another season with the objective of further developing his game. Daniel is a 6’8” & 245lbs high energy athletic defensive minded player that has a lot of raw potential. He has only been playing basketball since high school and his time was limited at Iowa State because of NBA player Georges Niang owned the power forward spot in Ames.

Daniel made national headlines while at Iowa State and was featured in USA Today and Sports Illustrated due to his homeless situation as a (12) year boy who came to the USA from England. His life adventure is a fascinating story and his determination to make a better life is even more captivating.

His new professional adventure began last year during a Global Basketball Summer League (GBSL) recruiting call when he to the director that his story had been featured in national headlines. Once the GBSL director read the USA Today article regarding the Nigerian Destroyer he felt obligated to sponsor his 2015 Global Basketball Summer League (GBSL) participation. Daniel came to the GBSL Las Vegas event and displayed his raw athleticism and rebounding skills. As a result, he made the GBSL All Tournament and All Big Man Team. He also captured the attention of the British coach Gavin Love who was scouting the event for several European teams. Gavin told several BBL teams about Daniel’s ability because of his British citizenship and the Bristol Flyers offered him a deal immediately. He is one of the (40) players that received deals due to participating in the GBSL.

Daniel had an outstanding season for a player that rarely played at Iowa State. The British club provided him the opportunity to develop in a overseas professional league with quality coaching. He also enjoyed the fact that he had the opportunity to develop a relationship with siblings that he had never met prior to signing with the Flyers. Daniel’s new objective is to become a better professional player and he believes by going back to Bristol for another season with impact his career development.

Currently Daniel is seeking new agent representation and will be exploring opportunities in European leagues after the 2016-17 season. Right now he wants to help the Bristol Flyers win games and invest time with his family in the UK.
