Alab registers third win in a row

Justin Brownlee took over during a crucial time to lead Tanduay Alab Pilipinas to victory over the Singapore Slingers, 89-80, in overtime last January 7 at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.

It was the third straight win for Alab after dropping their first three games and moved to fourth place in the current standings in the ongoing ASEAN Basketball League (ABL).

The Slingers dropped to a 3-5 win-loss record.

Renaldo Balkman scored 26 points to pace Alab.

Brownlee finished with 17 points none more important than the last four points scored in back-to-back baskets to start the extra period.

The Philippine-based squad led as much as 10 points in the first half but the Slingers led by Hanbin Ng sparked a comeback to tie the game at 36 during halftime.

Bobby Ray Parks added 11 points and seven rebounds.

New acquisition Chris Charles debuted with 22 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks while former Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) player AJ Mandani added 13 markers for Singapore in a losing effort.

The two teams will meet again in January 10 at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City, Philippines.
