Gilas blasts hapless Myanmar by 95 in SEA Games action

Gilas Pilipinas gave Myanmar a beating, 139-34, last August 22 to improve to 2-0 in Group A in men’s basketball in the ongoing Southeast Asian (SEA) Games at the MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

All players inserted into the game scored, led by forward Raymar Jose with 22 points.

National team rookie sensation Kobe Paras provided his best outing as a Gilas member registering 20 markers, eight rebounds, seven steals, four assists and four block shots in an all-around performance capped with highlights including an alley-oop dunk in the second quarter.

Gilas dropped a 27-0 run to close the half with the lead ballooned to 50, 60-10.

Myanmar only scored three points in the second quarter.

The lead swelled as high as 97 points at one point the final canto.

Sai Phyo Kyaw paced Myanmar with 12 points.

Quarterscores: 31-7, 60-10, 98-16, 129-34.
