Gilas wins gold in SEA Games

Gilas Pilipinas asserted its mastery against Indonesia, 94-55, to capture gold in the finals of men’s basketball of the 29th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The win is the Philippines 17th SEA Games crown.

Mike Tolomia provided the needed push in the second quarter as Gilas raced to a 45-27 halftime lead from a close 19-15 lead in the first canto and never looked back.

Tolomia dropped 11 points in the first half capped with two triples and finished with 20 points, leading all scorers.

Kobe Paras provided highlights including an emphatic alley-oop play from a pass from Tolomia.

Paras added 14 points and forward Raymar Jose scored 12.

Diftha Pratama and Sandy Kurniawan paced the silver medallists with 10 points apiece.

Thailand snatched bronze with a win over Singapore in the battle for third.
