Rain or Shine’s Jeff Chan traded to Phoenix

Longtime Rain or Shine Elasto Painters shooting guard Jeff Chan was sent to the Phoenix Fuel Masters for shooting bigman Mark Borboran and a second round pick in the 2020 Rookie Draft.

The deal was sent to the Commissioner’s Office last August 7 and is expected to be approved within the next two days.

Chan, a former Gilas Pilipinas (National Team) gunner was Rain or Shine’s top marksman since coming over the team in 2009 from the defunct Red Bull franchise.

He has career averages of 10.9 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in his 10-year stint in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).

In other news, the Elasto Painters continued to tweak its lineup by trading Gilas cadet guard Mike Tolomia in exchange for the Meralco Bolts’ own cadet, Ed Daquioag.

Lastly, J.D. Weatherspoon was sent packing as Rain or Shine taps J’Nathan Bullock as his replacement.

Coach Caloy Garcia confirmed the change last Monday (Manila time).

Bullock was listed at 6-foot-5 and a veteran forward in various leagues around the world who last played in the Finnish league.
