Defending Champions Primero d’Agosto Jump Off To A Great Start At Sousse 2013.

The 26th edition of the African Champions cup tipped off yesterday in the city of Sousse, Tunisia. The 12 team tournament championship saw  5 mouthwatering games take center stage on opening day and the pick of the bunch was the “Battle of Angola” which saw defending champions Primero d’Agosto defeating Recreativo Libolo in fantastic fashion 78-66. To grab her first win at Sousse 2013, sending big warning to all opposition about their intent to win the coverted title for a record 8 time.

Egyptian club  Sporting Alexandra also started on a winning note defeating  Ferroviaro Beira of Mozambique 75-49 , Triple consecutive Liberian champions LPRC Oilers didn’t have enough to get past C.S Constatinios of Algeria, they lost 64-84. while host club Etoile du Sahel  rode on home advantage to defeat Tally BB Gabon 86-57.

However, the biggest win was left for last, where back to back Arab Basketball Championship Champions Al Ahly of Algeria blew out Malabo Kings of Equatorial Guinea 92-76 to end day 1 of the championship on a high note.

Six games are on today’s schedule starting from 10:00 GMT till 20:00 GMT .

Primero d’ Agosto have 7 members including excluding National team Head coach Paulo Macedo and captain Carlos Almeida in the all conquering Angolan team that won her 11th Afrobasket title at Abidjan 2013 in Cote d’Ivoire. The other Agosto players are Armando Costa, Reggie Moore, Felizardo Ambrósio,Hermenegildo Santos and  Joaquim Gomes
