NBL Canada Names Global Basketball as their Commercial Revenue Partner

London, Ontario – In 2018, the National Basketball League of Canada will implement a new innovative phase to their sports business model including an assertive growth plan for the future. Today the National Basketball League of Canada names Global Basketball as its commercial revenue partner. Global Basketball’s main objective will be to deliver integrated business solutions on behalf of NBL Canada in order to attract global sports brands as business partners. Global Basketball will also provide sponsorship activation and digital media consulting which will enhance commercial relationships and league growth.

“Commercial growth and increasing brand recognition are both paramount to NBL Canada which is why we’re quite excited to work alongside an organization with the expertise of Global Basketball as we work towards achieving our business objectives,” said Deputy Commissioner, Audley Stephenson. He also stated, “Their resources and knowledge on the commercial side of basketball coupled with an existing infrastructure of sports marketing and digital advertising will be beneficial in the search of sponsorship partners for the NBL Canada.”

Basketball Growth Phenomena in Canada

Canada is emerging as basketball powerhouse and are constantly developing some of the top basketball propects in the global market., Canada has produced a steady stream of NBA draft picks in recent years and currently there are (15) Canadian players in the NBA. Ten years ago there were about (30) Canadians playing NCAA Division I basketball in the United States and last season that number had increase to (114).
Team Canada also captured the 2017 FIBA U19 World Cup and defeated the United States in the semifinals. They were led to victory by R.J. Barrett who was named the MVP of the FIBA U19 World Cup and he is currently the number 1 ranked high school player in the class of 2018.
